In the planning mode of a long awaited trip from Melbourne to Birdsville, via Flinders Ranges. Up to Boulia, then Alice springs via the Plenty highway, short stop in Alice to restock then out to Glen Helen Gorge. Come back into Alice & down to Finke & Dalhousie Springs. We will then travel down to Onnadatta on our way back to Victoria. We are budgeting for $2.00 per litre for unleaded. Is this a realistic figure?

You may well get a bit of change from your $2. The only unleaded over $2 we found,
in June, was on the Plenty & GCR. cheers....oldbaz.

Yes I'd expect some change.

Our recent trip from Melb up past Birdsville averaged 1.616 c/lt

The actual average pump price of fuel was 1.69 c/lt which reflects the fact that we bought more when it was cheap , from $1.41 in melbourne to $2 at Mungeranie and $1.77 @ Birdsville.

If you decide to detour into Uluru while your in the area, for Diesel it was about 2.30 a few months back. I'm guessing unleaded would not be much different. This was the most expensive we saw. Everthing else was under the 2.00 mark.
