Need a 5000 km service for my Nissan Patrol GU 4.2TD. Like to hear from anyone who has received satisfactory Nissan service in Alice Springs. If so where? Other forums suggest the local Nissan dealer should be avoided!

Did everyone say why the local Nissan/Toyota dealer should be avoided? I had my Gu 30000km service done there and i had no probs what so ever. It Took most of the day but they were very busy being a Nissan/Toyota dealer.

I know of two people who had service there and both found the diff filler plug was loose/nearly out of the thread. One vehicle had travelled from Alice to the Rock and only knew about it when a passer by noticed the oil down the diff case.
Maybe they don't do it to everyone. Best to check all work.

Michael: I have seen reported indifferent attitudes, indolence, etc. One worrying report had a client pay for a particular service but when he checked, the oil had not been changed nor had the filters [he had marked them as a check - which would never have occurred to me]. When he took the vehicle back and complained, they offered to repeat the service free of charge. But it should never have occurred in the first place; and speaks volumes about their quality control.

I understand that this is side issue, but don't expect any better Nissan service in Darwin either.
I booked my newish Patrol in to Kerry's in Darwin not long ago during a trip right around and it was the worst service I have ever received anywhere from any dealer and I've had six Patrols over the years as well as a Mitsubishi, some Toyotas and some Fords.
They charged me double what had been quoted, kept me waiting for more than two and a half hours after the agreed pickup time, and refused my request to talk to a senior person.

The product knowledge of one of their female "service advisors" was abysmal and most probably the source of my problems. Her advice was non existent and I suspect that she was just a clerk.

After discussion they reduced the price slightly, allegedly because I had been incorrectly charged for premium oil ??????????

Kerry's are Holden, Mazda, Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge dealers as well as Nissan and it's clear they just don't care about customer service and obviously the manufacturers don't care either.

I could not recommend Kerrys Darwin for any service and would recommend going elsewhere.

Stay safe out there
Regards
TJ

Only Nissan dealer in Alice is Peter Kittles....Personally I'd rather drag my butt through a cactus than go back there. Best Diesel place in town is Country Diesel

20 Fogarty StAlice Springs NT 0870

He's not the cheapest but he does exactly what he says he will do and if he finds anything suss he will let you know.
