Some time ago I posted a thread highlighting that the Sat Phone Subsidy was ending on 30th June 2013. I see it has been extended till June 2014 which may be of interest to some travellers.

The page mentions that the Government is is Caretaker mode so no further changes will occur till after the election but only god knows what will happen after that.

Thanks Tony. Yes I got a bit of a shock myself at the recent 4x4 show to find they were still handing out the application forms. It can only be a good thing for keen outback travellers. I've used it twice over the past 10 years and it's been a great boon in reducing the initial cost of Satphone purchase.
Hopefully it won't be identified as a cost saving too soon ;-)
