Hi all. At last the countdown is in days rather than weeks!!! Leaving Perth for the Kimberley this week. Tried looking at the road up dates but seems to be well out of date. Has anyone got info on the condition of the Muccan Shay Gap and Boreline Roads?

Hi Phill,

I went along that route on the night of the 21 July. Road was good.

The river was flowing, approx 30cms. Had Dad on top of the cab shining the torch into the water so I didn't drive off the concrete ford. I was told the water was at 1.5 metres the week before, so unless there has been rains since should have drained away by now.

Cheers
Alan

Gee Alan,

Your dad up on the roof - that's a bit rough. That should have been your job - lol.

That may have been possible Phil. I seem to remember that they once made some cars steer from the roof and accelerate and brake in normal positions, on Top Gear!!

Well Phil, it came down to who could shine a light better against who could drive across a dark ford.

Voting was tight, even in fact - so it ended up being the captains pick lol...

We drove the Shay Gap Road road from Pardoo Roadhouse to Marble Bar on the 17 August and the road was brilliant. Spoke to others who did the Boreline Road and they said the same for it. Kevin
