thanks for your post, I just hope that by the time I'll go there the price maybe less, so that I could enjoy for more.

Did you have a look at the Jardine? Damn, for that money, we very nearly crossed it, but it's a long way across and someone mentioned crocs! The south side looks good but the north side looks all mud and crap. Atleast the ferry fee covers your camping above the Jardine!

yes that is true about covering camping fees where there is free camps.still have to pay at the parks as such if you want to stay in town when heading over to thursday is etc.
word has it that they have dug big holes in the river on entry and exit of the old telly track so there is no other option bar use the ferry

Here is a bit from the CM in June regarding the fees.

Jardine Ferry

Note the comment about trying to cross at the old crossing

Depending on the election, the Jardine may get a bridge.
Yes the old crossing has been dug out below the water level, a bit of a trap set by locals for more ferry business.
Don't expect the ferry to run early. Saw it start at 945am then 10am another day. Saves the ferryman waiting around for a load I guess.

The money is available for the bridge but the traditional owners wont let it be built.
