Does anyone have any information on how to mount the antenna from the standard spare wheel carrier and where/how to run cables to the antenna on a GQ Patrol? Also will the reception be affected? Thanks!

Hi Glen and Bev
There is a bracket made to fit the rear wheel carrier on the Patrol. the wires are then feed through a hole in the back door and through to the rear quarter panel tired to the wiring harness for wipers etc The Reception and more importantly the transmission is fine as long ar the wire part of the antenna is above the roof line and the auto tuner is 160mm from the body of the truck The carrier allows for this Much better than on the bullbar. Timeplus in Melbourne have the brackets

Glenn & Bev,Have a look at our vehicle feature it mantions the brackets and has some information on the installation. We also fitted the auto tune antenna onto a GQ patrol and we sourced the brackets from www.aus4wdstor.com. Have a look at the HF Installation details in the vehicle feature. All the best David

Hello Glen&Bev
the above replies are correct note the wires will actually fit inside the rubber tube follow the wiring harness into the rear quarter panel then inside the panel covering the rhs wheel arch and then straight up the cargo barrier also the speaker and remote head can be fitted with double sided adhesive tape to the console between driver/passenger so that you still have access to cig lighter power outlet.advantage of tape is very secure, can be removed and no holes drilled into console , I am told its better to keep arial wires away from power cables to minimise interferance.

I ran power cables under carpet drivers side to main starting battery not aux battery, because sure as eggs if connected to aux batt it would be flat keeping the beer cool when you really need it for an emergency.
