Hi all,

I'm hoping to purchase some show specials this Sunday, if you have the time to respond I'd appreciate some "street" prices on the following items;

Full Height Cargo Barrier for GU Patrol (installed)

Tyre Pliers or R&R Beadbreakers

Motorola 9505 Sat Phone with no contract

Thanks in advance
Phil P

My personal Disscussions / negotiations with the guys at ARB Northern have always reaped me at least the same price on anything I have been offered at the shows and 8 out of 10 times they have done something better.
They have also done lots of extra bits and pieces for me for no charge as a measure of customer service.
Mind you I have spent a consisderable amount of $ in the last 6 months.
But no complaints service and level of workmanship excellent.

And no I don't work for ARB.

Regards
John

I'm a cynical old cuss... I've yet to get a better deal as a "special show price" than I can negotiate with the supplier. In most cases after the "show" I've been able to get some real deals.

Cannot comment on what to expect at the mexican 4x4 shows but I attended the Queanbeyan 4x4 show last weekend.
went armed with cash looking for swags and one of those canister stoves.
about 3 swags on offer to bad I wanted other than std single or double. One bloke couldnt understand why I would want to unroll the swag he had on offerto look at it.
as for stoves did see one for $59.95. Kmart next day was $.24.50

Too bad I didnt want to buy a camper trailer I admit with 22-24 campertrailer types to compare it was a good camper trailer show.

also just out of curiosity I compared prices on 8000lb snatch straps, not that I need one, havent used the one I brought 5 years ago .
guess what
the cheapest was the local caravan supplier just a tad ie $ 1 under the best offer from the 4 x4 specialists suppliers. but wait theres more . walked into supercheap on the sunday and their normal price bet the best of show by $1. same product.
so much for show specials.
also a lot of the fridge prices, especially accessories like 240v/12v adaptors/ bags etc were more than the off the street prices charged locally week in week out. hell some even wanted more than the 'Advertized"prices listed on a regular basis in the 4x4 magazines.
overall I dont think this years show was as good as the one 2 years ago.
unfortunately there doesnt seem to be much in the way of
innovative new 4x4 products from the specialists around just the same old things recycled under 25 different badge names.
was also pretty dissappointed some suppliers could tell you the bull*** * about their products but not quote prices. sales reps hired for the weekend with no product knowledge.
Seemed to be lots of people in attendence even though the hot weather didnt make it all that enjoyable. Its a pity all the effort put in by the 4wd clubs involved in the organisation has so little to offer anyone who has ever seen a 4x4 inthe past.Even my wife couldnt find anything worth buying.

would much rather look at a display of 50 or so vehicles set up by people who use them. more likely to find the solution to that little project without parting with hundreds of dollars for something with a material cost of 2/6.

probably should have filled in the survey form given out with the entry ticket but maybe the organisers will see this post.for me its highly unlikely I'll waste 4 hours going to next 4x4 show.

had my bitch better go
Howard
