My Shop Item Rating:
If you are 4WDing in Tassie, this book is a MUST. It quickly became evident to me that I needed this book, because every other book about touring or 4WDing Tasmania said that if you are going off road you really should have a copy of this book in the car with you. Having now purchased and read it, I can see why. The interior of the book is not a slick full-colour book loaded with advertising. Rather, it is a practical guide with all the details you need to know about 4WD tracks around Tasmania. It gives ratings of the tracks with descriptions of why that rating was given. It also gives specific warnings about each track, along with UHF frequencies to use. Campsites are suggested too.
One thing I especially like about the book is that about half the tracks suggested are focused on getting you somewhere you need/want to go without using the bitumen, and often with very interesting diversions. I will be using it heavily on our trip to Tassie in a few weeks.
