Looking at buying a Orion TV/VCR/DVD Combo (14VDT) for our Caravan & wondering if anyone has any stories good or bad about this unit or Orion's in general

The reason we want the combo is we can save room by combining all the units in one & not have to use mutiple power points & cabling to join seperate units together

Regards Don

I have had the Orion 10" TV/video for ~2 years and it is a good reliable unit. I used to mount it on the centre console of my old 80 series and my kids (6,4) would watch their videos (with headphones). It allowed us to travel MUCH further before the "are we there yet" routine. It survivied some very rough tracks and never missed a beat (not sure how the DVD would handle the bumps). At night we simply moved it to the van if required.

One of the best features is the auto tune on the TV for local stations. Sure beats trying to manually tune.

I hear these units are very expensive , you may want to get the Tv/ Video for much less and use your laptop to watch dvds . If you have kids then a play staition with a small inverter will do the trick and still work out much cheaper Venus Bay

Hi Eric, one of the reasons these TV's are more expensive is that they are supposedly designed for use in vehicles and generally being moved about. They come with a 2 year warranty, even when used in vehicles.

I have taken mine on very corrugated roads and it has not missed a beat. A normal TV "may" perform the same, but I would not count on it. Plus you pay extra for the convience of a "all in one" package.
