Hi
Just wandering how long a prota potti Thetford 365 would last 2 adults before having to be emptied.
I know it depends but some estimates or experiences would be useful
Many thanks for and contributions :)

Does it have a 20 litre or a 10 litre cassette Rich?
If you are travelling you can make it last longer by using
public toilets of just going bush for short visits, but after three days you will probably want to empty it anyway :O

Mother,
21l I believe and will be based in one spot for 7+ days
I suspect I will have to look at other options.
Not sure if going bush to share with nature is an option.
A bit messy but could carry an additional wast container but at last resort I suppose. Nothing like taking it with you:)
Many thanks,
Richard

Yes you can tip into another container and seal it down or you can purchase additional cassettes. Depending on where you are, you could possibly go for a walk for a "bush burial".

Looking in to the "bush burial" option.
Are you supposed to say any last words when you do :)

On average the 365 should last 3-4 days before requiring emptying.
BUT, you might have to encourage the lady (if there is one) to "wee in a bucket" rather than the porta potti as this will fill the casette up much quicker.
The 365 has a 21L waste container and holds about 15L in the flushing tank.
I "upgraded" from our previous 145 model (which was a bit small) to a 165 which has the same capacity as the 365.

Mate,
Thanks for the info.
The chances of my lovely wife peeing in the bush are very low.
I may suggest she gets a "she wee" I think they are called then she can stand like a bloke!! Also a slim chance as
well.

Rich,
If you want a funny read about "going in the bush",
check out the Friday Funnies, from 6/09/13.
Very
well written, very funny about a ........err, um,.....messy subject. If your wife reads it,
well it might change ALL your camping plans :-)
Bob.

If you are going to build it into a camper or caravan, and are flush with dough, one of these might be the way to go.
Composting toilet
They need a solar fan to keep them under suction but will last for a month or more with two adults. The wee is kept separate from the poo and you empty the wee container every few days. The only downside is that blokes have to sit down to pee. People who have them say they are odour free, thanks to the solar fan.
I'll be putting one into my new camper, if ever I get it finished.

Very interesting.
I think I have seen them at a caravan show or some place.

From using
mine many many times on my sailboat I know it lasts 6 days max for one person, emptying after 5 days is preferable to avoid 'accidents' with the shutoff valve.
I have the smallest waste tank, 10 liter I think it is.
