G'day all, I'm trying to find where I can purchase an off the shelf box to store a genny. It doesn't need to be vented and will sit on a caravan drawer bar.
Any help will be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.
Cheers
Des

Ebay? Lots of different boxes on there. Don't like the postage for this one though............ Try "trailer storage box"
Genny Box

Des Goldstream RV have a box they fit to their vans and campers that is designed for a 2kv Honda Inverter Generator. It is fitted with a slide to make access easier. Not sure where you are from as Goldstream are in Pakenham in Victoria. I have one fitted to my Explorer ST on the drawbar and it hasn't given me any issues.

Hi Des,
Tong boxes and Diamond boxes, both in
Brisbane make gennie specific alloy boxes.
The Diamnd box sits the gennie so that it comes out the end of the box on a slide, approx $995!
The Tong box opens at the front and has access flaps at both ends for cables and exhaust, last time I checked a few months ago they were $ 550.
Both have good websites which show their products.

Mate if that generator runs on petrol, the box needs to be ventilated and quite
well.
It is both unwise and illegal to store petrol in an enclosed unventilated space...the generator has a fuel tank and that contains petrol.
cheers

Mr Lexic I see you say caravan draw bar. Something new? Congratulations. We have a box and gerry holders on ours, but you didn't see it in daylight.

G'day
John, We're still travelling as per the photo. Have a mate in
Darwin who is about to embark on a lap and has a bit more stuff to carry hence the box.
Hope all is
well in your neck of the woods. The operations manager and I are doing
well with only a few months left as gainfully employed.

Went and had a look at their Genny box today and will be calling in on Friday on way
home from
Brisbane to get one.
They are made in China but the aluminium is 2mm thick and the quality looks good to me.
I will have to pull my rear bumper out by about 30mm to clear the back of the van and will get a frame made from flat bar welded to the bumper then mount the box bolted to it, plus put in a vent but at $149 for the box I am happy with that.
Cheers,
Cruiser
