Hi to all,
Rather than hijack a current thread about Sat Sleeve's
I want to ask anybody who is currently using the
Thuraya system for sat phone connection what the reception & service availability is like...... say if you draw a line from the NSW/Vic border across to
Perth & BELOW that line..... taking in the
Vic high country, bottom of SA, KI, Tassie & the WA south & south west.
Thanking you in anticipation

Tony,
Thuraya have not released details about availability and pricing.
Here is a link to a
Brisbane Times article which may give some info, although it refers to Optus as the "carrier".
Won't be as practical if you can't use your existing mobile number to receive calls.
I'm waiting on
Thuraya to release their offering.

Hi Tony,
If you were looking to always use a satellite phone under “the line”
Thuraya would not be the network I would suggest. The
Thuraya will work down in those areas (and I have used
Thuraya below the line in Vic and WA ) however you will need to be really pickie regarding point the antenna in the right direction. I would recommend Iridium or Globalstar if you plan to use the phone 100% in those areas.
Thank you
