Is there a shortcut from
Coongie lakes across to the
Birdsville Track without going back to
Innamincka?
One map I have shows a track from
Kudriemitchie Outstation across to the
Walkers Crossing PAR. Is that navigable and are there other tracks that I could use. Assuming
Cooper Creek isn't flowing of course.

There used to be but since becoming a NP access has been closed, you have to go back to
Innamincka these days.

So near, yet so far......its only 30k across to the Walker's Crossing track but imagine the flogging that track would get if open. With Coongie recognised in the Ramsar Convention, also a world
heritage site plus national park and an IBA (Important Bird Area ) one point access probably has merit.... it's pastoral lease country anyway. I recall my dismay some years back when we did a 100k round trip to the B&W Dig Tree from our
camp at the eastern end of the
Cullyamurra waterhole - I realised later while looking at a map that we were camped only 12k from the tree.
