Forestry Maps - Southwest WA

Hello all,
Does anyone know where one can get detailed maps of the southwest of WA forests. Something like 1:25000 forestry maps would be ideal but i dont know where they are available.
Thanks

Right here on ExplorOz in the Shop Raster 50K South West WA

Not sure about sourcing 25K in this area though.

No dramas I use paper maps also for those scales and printing large maps is a pain unless you have a large format printer (which I don't). Good luck with your search, Landgate (or whatever it is called at the moment) should have these.

Swagman - You get them from Landgate - but the 1:25000 series are only produced in a limited area of coverage.

Thanks!
Looks good.
Are they free to download off Landgate or do you need to order and pay for them?
Thanks

Ha ha! Virtually nothing is free from Govt in todays world! Even our great nature reserves aren't free any more!

The first link above says Landgate want $11.75 PDF or $24.50 POD.

Cheers ..

If only communism worked!

On the coverage index you attached - what are the highlighted sheets? Do you think they the only ones Landgate has in 1:25000?
I don't really want the cadastral info - otherwise the 1:50000 series might be ok...

Cheers

Hi

As mentioned below there will be an updated set of digital 1:25K maps available from the Exploroz shop in the near future. The map key provided in the link above by Ron N is for the old set of paper (and digital) maps. The new digital version covers more than twice the area of the old set and has more roads and tracks. I'd post a screen shot but currently out bush and don't have those maps with me.

Cheers

Hello

"Forestry" paper maps can be purchased online from Department of Parks and Wildlife (DPaW)..

DPaW Shop - Maps

or from any one of their offices (search for locations on the Department of Parks and Wildlife website)

The Exploroz shop should have a new updated version of the 1:25,000 topo maps of the south west (digital version) soon (~ 1 month) - these show main forestry tracks and cover a much larger area than the current 1:25,000 SWWA digital map set.

Cheers

Thanks,
Are the electronic image formats on those dvds easy to be opened and printed on a large format printer?

Hello

Sorry for late reply - been out bush.

At a guess I would say most programs that allow you to view "digital maps" on a PC will also have a print function. The 25K maps of SWWA I am referring to will be supplied in OZF and ECW format ...so will be viewable in OziExplorer (which has a print function) and a range of other programs (CompeGPS Land, TrackRanger, plus other GPS mapping programs and various GIS programs) ...most of which I would assume will have a print function....so I would say yes they are easily printed.

However this is subject to you having the "large format printer" installed on the same PC as the map viewing program you are using. If you just turned up at a print shop and said print these maps you may have problems as they may no be able to open OZF or ECW image formats.

Cheers

Hi

It's been a while since I got any but I used to get the 1:50 000 from either the Parks & Wildlife, Kensington PH: 9219 9000

or

Chart & Map Shop, Fremantle PH: 9335 8665.

If the areas you are after are near the Bibbulman Track you can get the larger scale track maps.

Regards
Rowdy
