Hi all,
Would like some feed back on the condition of the road from
Tom Price to the North West Coastal Highway, via
Python Pool, also would it be ok to take a caravan on it.
Thanks Hayd & Jude

It is some years since we drove that route and if I recall, it was quite stoney at the time.
Irrespective, there is some stunning scenery on that route and taking it very slowly would be worth the effort and time.
Cheers,
Peter

I'm not sure whether any of these roads are the ones you want information on, but we explored the
Pilbara on our trip to the west during the winter this year and here's a blog I wrote about it which might be of use.

Hope this works.

We towed our van from
Tom Price to
Karratha via the Iron Ore Rail Road & called in
to
Millstream Chichester Np on the way. Road was ok, unsealed mostly but a fair bit
sealed at the top end. That was in June. You need to go to the Tourist Info joint in
Tom Price for a permit..they make you watch an OH & S film & charge a couple of
dollars. You will see the big ore trains along this road..cheers....oldbaz.

We took an outback swan along the other road to the nth west coastal hwy from
Tom price July this year. Much more interesting road than the rail access road. There are some great sections with a bit of variety of scenery. Nice section of
gorge near the hammersly turn off. Road wasn't too bad. Took it easy here and there. Make sure you have stone guard or something for your back window.
