Hi Greg, I do not know if they are still available but I have a TX 6000 that I have used for approx 10 years. It has a fixed base but the radio can be taken out connect a small antenna and carried even if a little heavy. The radio was adjusted to 80 channels when I purchased it. We have been in the Flinders for 8 days, driven 1300 kms and still have not seen everything!

Good enough radio. But if you can afford it purchase a better quality Ariel set up.

Hi Greg

The TX3100 is a good Australian made UHF Radio with 3 years warranty. Like I tell customers, regardless of what radio you buy, they all will have the same 5w output and the type of antenna that you buy will be the most important factor in the performance of the radio.

Cheers.

I have one of those head units and are happy with it, the internal speaker is a bit tinny sounding so I bought an extension speaker that just plugs in and much better
I am running a different ariel to the one in the package but I have no reason to think it wouldn't be ok
Would happily purchase a 3100 again
