I'm going to Fraser in January with my family, we will be travelling in a Pajero, Hilux, Prado and a Pathfinder and are staying in Eurong. We were looking at catching the barge from Hervey Bay to Kingfisher and am looking for feedback on what the track is like that would take us to Eurong and if tides need to be considered when coming from Hervey Bay. I have had a search in the archives and couldn't see anything specifically regarding this track so if anyone has been recently it would be great to hear your thoughts.

The track from Kingfisher to Eurong is currently soft and rough with plenty of gouging, as it usually is. This applies to most inland tracks on the island. It is currently raining on the island which will improve matters but could change significantly by January, particularly due to the holiday season traffic. You should have no great difficulty with your vehicles with appropriately reduced tyre pressures.
The track from Kingfisher to Eurong does not take you onto the beach so tides need not be considered until you wish to beach drive. King fisher landing is a concrete ramp so of no concern.

Check conditions closer to your trip time using the link that Jack provided.
Cheers

Allan is spot on - and you don't need to be concerned about tides when leaving from Hervey bay either - there are ramps on both ends of the barge trip - at least there were last time we went!

The tour busses are getting stuck at the mad mile (incline about 2 kms out of the resort) pretty much daily at the moment.
Tyre pressures for soft sand are definitely required (18 odd psi on a paj) and you'll wonder what all the fuss is about.
Airing down at the resort servo whilst the Mrs has a croissant and coffee is much preferred to airing down once bogged 5 minutes later.
At that time of year, delays in the heat of usually an hour are the norm whilst terrorists work out just how far their soft roaders and 4wds on road pressures won't make it. Forewarned is forearmed ;) Again, it's not particularly technical in any way, just soft sand, but lazy 4wders and the uninformed abound at that time of year.
