OK ... who's got what?

I'm after a compact radio stereo cd/usb player for the camper. Any suggestions on what's good and what to avoid. Not looking for a top end unit, perhaps up to $200.
Preferably AC/DC - batteries and/or 240V.

Ta in advance

A portable carry with you..? As opposed to a fixed unit in the Camper.? For portable units it simply gets down to sound quality, life on battery. You also want Bluetooth so anyone can play their music wirelessly to the device. Creative D100 for around $80 is an entry level unit and my pick for the top end is the Bose Soundlink 11 which is around $350-400. There are a myriad of players in between off course but my criteria would be the following:

1. Sound Quality
2. Hours x Playback via built in Battery
3. Battery Type, easy of recharging
4. Bluetooth

Bose stands for Buy Other Sound Equipment for a reason. We can go into frequency responses and why their crap is overpriced if you want, but for the same money you can buy a Klipsch KMC 3. These don't have a built-in battery with hours of playback because unlike the unpublished Bose's 15W power specification, the Klipsch has 130W with a frequency response of 45Hz-24KHz +/-3dB. Bose doesn't even publish the power specs. I had to calculate it from:

17-20 volts and has a 6,000mAh battery that lasts 8 hours. Watts = Amps x Volts.
Watts = 0.75 x 17-20
= 12.75-15 Watts

Bose doesn't publish their FR, but their $3,000 Lifestyle system has been measured at 280Hz-13.3 Khz +/- 10.5 dB. Acoustimass module: 46Hz-200Hz. It really is terrible stuff for the amount they charge! Their slogan is "better sound through research" yet they don't publish any quantitative data (the specs), yet every other company does. Ridiculous!

By your logic PajeroTD, the Klipsch KMC 3 uses 8 D cells that last 8 hours on max volume. At best an alkaline battery has 8000mA hour capacity so it draws 1A. That is 1 amp x 12v = 12W

Where is the claimed 130W? Only by the scam peak music power rating surely.

Same Shyt, different buckets IMHO.

Pajero it is all very well that the Bose does not meet your textbook criteria but you buy audio products on what sounds good to your ears
Specifications means little.

Did you say no built in battery for the Klipsch? You fail to meet the portable category then and that is a whole new criteria.. Portable requires in built battery of some description otherwise it must be 240vac and that is not the criteria he is asking.

Rosco,
I recently picked up a TDK unit from OO.com.au for $80
Has a 6 hour battery life, Bluetooth & Usb, 3.5mm plug as well as built in FM radio.
Front speakers are a bit exposed but being careful it has been camping twice already and has a great sound.
Cheers
Tony

Do you own any power tools? If you do, I would purchase that brands "job site radio".
I use a Dewalt Jobsite radio (it can charge the battery too).
It has the new DAB digital radio, sounds pretty good, and can handle being wet/dropped etc, so suits the lifestyle very well.

As nearly every one has a phone which you can download a ship load of songs and also use it as a radio I would look at a stereo attachment.
Blue tooth it to car stereo etc if not now in the future vehicle.
You would get a good one for $200

Hi

You can try Elinz DJAZZ.
DJAZZ has CD/USB, and he can install into his dash to be powered by a 12V power source.DJAZZ
