Hi
Without knowing exact Garmin GPS you are talking about will just provide description for GPSMap 62S..I think most menu options would be similar..(symbol -> means press Enter button)
With GPS turned on press Menu -> Setup Map -> Scroll down to Select Map -> You will now be presented with a list of maps available. Disable all map sets except the one you want to see - this is done by scrolling down to map set and pressing Enter - choose Enable or Disable and select enter. When finished select Quit to go back through menu to map page.
Now ..this assumes you have loaded map into correct folder on SD card. The map file (*.img) should be in a folder called Garmin. If this folder doesn't exist create it and place the map file (*.img) into it. My understanding is (I could be wrong) that legitimate copies of this map set must be on the original SD card on which it was sold as they are locked together - you cant copy the map file to another SD card or internal memory and expect it to work. If you have a pirated copy you are on your own.
Cheers
Greg
PS: no such thing as a SD sim card ..its an SD card (memory card)..or a Sim card (for phones) :)

? 62 S is one of the current models so nothing stone age about that. I also have a Monterra - more or less the same procedure (different buttons though) - go to map set up and enable/disable as required.
The OP has chosen not to tell us what model Garmin GPS he/she has (or source of maps) so anyone's guess what the exact procedure for his/her GPS is - but should have the picture by now.
Cheers

Greg ! The guy owns ( or friend does) a Garmin and has no idea how to use it! I have just bought my second Nuvi and the first thing i did was go through it and see how it all works. Garmins are fairly easy to use! Michael

No worries Michael - get your point. It would indeed appear that some people don't bother to read the user manual and/or have limited experience in these things. I suppose they, for one reason or another, find it easier to just ask someone else.
In this instance it a bit hard to say what the issue was - they may
well have read the manual and pressed all the right buttons but weren't getting a result..so went the next step and asked on the
forum, though some extra background info would have been handy in either case (potentially more annoying than the question itself).
Cheers

As Explorer said, too little information.
I have TOPO on my NUVI 765. I have v1 and v2 Topo loaded onto the system and v4 on an SD card.
On the NUVI, you go to setting, Maps and then change maps, provided that they are installed correctly.
If you can provide the model it would help members on this site help you..
With the NUVI, you cannot have multiple maps chosen, if you want TOPO click TOPO no others, the exception is Tracks4Australia and Shonky Maps.
