Can the wise 100 series LC owners out there tell me weather a V8 on duel fuel can be successfully converted back to it's original petrol only status, and/or is it an expensive process?
Regards...Sapper D

Hi Sapper,
I have not done this but as the vehicle is already running on petrol as part of the dual fuel setup then I imagine that it would be a simple matter to convert it back.
The tune would need to be reset for petrol only of course but any good mechanic should be able to remove the offending parts and do the tune for you. Talk to your local mechanic if you have a good one nearby. Should be a walk in the park I imagine.
It depends of course whether or not they have removed the original "sub" tank to fit the LPG tanks. That would complicate the issue somewhat but not too difficult to get around if that needed to be replaced.
You would need the reserve tank in that case and the associated pump and hoses.
Do you really need to do it ????
Cheers, Bruce.

A few weeks ago we ripped the gas system off a similar type car (4.8 lt Patrol) Sapper.
This required putting back the original main tank which wasn't a big problem.
When gas is put in the wires to the injectors are cut and taken via the gas system so that it could provide its own injector pulses.
We had to put the loom back to standard which took a bit of work.
All in all its a bit messy but comes up ok but you do need to know a little about the original sytem.
The patrol has a sub tank that just dumps across to the main tank , being short of a pump now we just grabbed a commodore one, wiring it in with a switch.
The cruiser though can run from either tank when on petrol so this could be more complex if you wished to go back to original system.
Never bothered ourselves but it did occur to me that it could have been done in stages.
I.E. leave switched to petrol and just dump the gas tank.

I had a similar set-up a few years back with a 6 cyl 100 series and did just that until I sold it.

We had one that kept blowing the air filter box to bits when run on gas; our mechanic kept fixing it & it would run fine for a short while, then start backfiring again.
I had him disconnect the gas to avoid it accidentally getting switched on. All he did was cap off the plumbing & remove the tank.
All the other bits were still under the bonnet when I traded it 4 years later.

if it has been run on gas for any length of time without fuel being used ,
the injectors may not work properly .most people run on gas purley because of cost
I have come across a couple of vehicles that were destined to run on gas for ever
because of the cost of replacing injectors , some won,t even clean up with an ultra sonic cleaning
