2010 Jayco Discovery Battery Charger

Can anyone help with some information on the factory battery charger fitted to our caravan.
1. Who makes it?
2. What is its rating and what are its performance performance features. ie is it a proper battery charger or is it a simple trickle charger?

Things that are hidden in dark places and are unknown to me are a worry. Paranoid? Almost certainly, but for me, ignorance when something goes wrong is not bliss and I like to avoid those possibilities
I have looked through the archives, but cannot find any previous info.
Thanks.

I have a Jayco 2008 with a Setec power supply.
When connected to 240 volt ac the unit has a 12 power supply to run the caravans load (12v TV and lights etc), and isolates the battery from the load whilst charging it with its 5 stage charger.

Using a standard battery charger is not a good thing, as it will overcharge your battery when you are drawing a load from it.

I just googled Jayco battery charger and came up with this.
http://www.setec.com.au/jayco-customers/
It seems to answer a lot of questions.

Cheers, Tony.

Hello Tony and others

Tony, I seem to have found the same site as you at what appears to be exactly the same time. I think it will tell me what I need to know.
Its a SETEC ST35-II charger and I did not know that either when I started this "investigation"
Thanks Tony and the other folks who helped out.

Be aware that despite what you read on that Setec site or in any of the handbooks you can download from it that the Setec power converters do not make good efficient battery chargers. They are designed for travellers in the USA who mainly have different requirements.

Read ablut these type of converters in this page. - You will do well by adding a proper battery charger and connect it across your battery.

Hi Keith,
Our van is a Jayco 2009 Sterling Outback, it has 40amp Xantrex (USA) multistage charger as standard if this helps.
