Gday
Last time I traveled that road it was a good dirt road, bit steep here and there , but no trouble.

Last on the road about 6 months ago and it was fine, don't know where the steep bits are though.

Good morning Tony
There is 1000m+ difference in height above sea level from
Dargo to Dogs Grave, so there must be a
hill somewhere .

Yep but its spread over a fair distance about 36k in-fact. The only real steep bit is if you go down to
Harrisons Cut via the old stock route, which has been realigned after the fires,

Tony, if you take Jones Rd to the Birregun Rd turn-off you will need to climb about 650m over about 6 kilometres as a continuous climb. Not steep, just a long climb. Birregun Rd is a normal dirt road with a lot of up and downs to Dogs Grave and much the same to
Omeo. You can take Stock Route Spur track to Birregun Rd from the
Dargo River and avoid Jones Rd altogether. As you say, it's a bit steeper but a relatively straight forward climb from the river to Birregun Rd. It's only 500m over about 3 kilometres.
Cheers

No doubt there is a few hills, but to class them as steep if you stay on Birregan is a bit tongue in cheek. And if you are coming from
Omeo most of it is down
hill.

Gday
Im sorry Mike , i have led you astray, there are no hills or steep bits and there are no corners as the road has been re aligned .....and its all down
hill if you go the other way ...My god , how picky can you get..

Which is nowhere near Birregan Rd. My first trips down that way there was no
bridge across the
Dargo River, and that crossing sorted a few out.

Hullo Mike and Lyn R2
There is some good advice in Threads 89314 and 91384 about the route you want to take.
In addition, as you get towards the
Omeo end, if there is logging activity make sure that you have your UHF tuned to their channel. Some of them travel pretty fast (for the conditions) and use all the road - and tend to take no prisoners :-)
Cheers
Andrew
