Just starting a new post from an existing question that was going a bit off track!

Noisey valve lifters and what to do?

Bradley has given me some advice on what to do about my noisey lifters.

Any other owners of Jacks in partic 3.2 pet engine have been down this
road.
Any comments on adding oil with the detergent to try and clean em out?
Have any replaced the valve lifters if so how much?

cheers

Hi Wolf the easy fix is to turn the wireless volume up!!
The noisey lifters shouldnt cause any problems but are expensive to replace!!

I haven't experienced this one first hand, but I have read on some US Isuzu Trooper forums that the noise can be minimised and sometimes eliminated by keeping the 3.2L engine internals and the oil clean. This would be true of any engine.

They say that the noise comes about when oil isn't circulating freely and there is a build up of "crud" in the engine's oil galleries, causing the lifters to not operate correctly.

If it's nothing to worry about, then I won't bother
as the noise ain't bothering me and isn't prob that loud
it's just that it's a new noise for me!

cheers for the info fellas

I found this isuzu service bulletin some time ago on one of the isuzu trooper boards...

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/TSBScans/sb614929.pdf

They suggest a 0W-30 synthetic as a first measure.
I have a 93 Jack that sometimes ticks for about 10 mins after cold start. Tried a thinner synthetic (I think it was about 5w-50 as i wasn't game to go to 0W-30). Ticking went away for a while but has come back now. Can't do the 'turn up the stereo' fix as my stereo's busted.

cheers,
Chris

Every one hundred thou the car needs the lifters adjusted. This is done by using schims as the lifters dont have any other adjustment.
