Try
4WD Treks Close to Sydney by Craig Lewis and Cathy Savage.

I have found it to be excellent. Its available in the trader section

Porters Road is closed for good, Freds Hill is closed for good etc... Matter of fact, all the good tracks are closed.

Menai you need to have done a clean up day out there and be a member of club that did cleanup etc...

Not only has Porters been closed, pics I saw recently it sould now be called porters highway. Wide and flat as. Odd since I thought the point of closing it was to reduce damage to the environment, not trash everything either side of the track.

Get the 4WD treks close to sydney book. I got it myself as a newcomer and have done a few of them. The notes are very good, last one I did by myslef (the turon trek) every single turn or landmark they had marked came at the exact distance stated, makes navigation a breeze.

So far it's all been pretty easy stuff, but I'm still looking!

Cheers.
