Hi i have been having problems with unhitching my caravan off my truck.
The tow ball on the truck is a 70mm ball which matches the coupling on the caravan, the ball is bigger than normal as the van is 26ft long and weighs 4 ton.
The coupling has an adjusting bolt through the side, which doesn't seem to do much as i have opened and closed it in all positions, when i try to wind it off it lifts the back of the truck up off the ground then it drops.Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

What do you have to operate to normally get it in or off the ball?

If the slide release isn't withdrawing sufficiently then it will hold the ball in the forward position and it will be hard to uncouple or impossible to get off.

Humpback could it be that you have some tension between the truck and van when disconnecting ?.

I sometimes have this and it lifts the car but not off the ground.

Do you have a similar problem hooking up or does it just slip on without much trouble ?.

If it goes on without much trouble you would think it would be the same coming off unless the van is pulling or pushing the truck.

Not familiar with a 70mm ball setup anyway but that is the best I can think of.

Cheers, Bruce.

Hi ,I have the same set up . Most times it comes off easy . If on sloped or uneven ground ,it sometimes catches. I have found that if I wind down the jack and take some weight off the ball then go and put truck in neutral with handbrake off ,it moves enough to release the ball .
Cheers,
John
