HI Everyone,

I am looking for a couple of OziExplorer Android users that use the program a fair bit and have the chance to test some exiting new stuff we have been working on. As you should be aware since EOTopo 200K has come along we have been doing extensive work with mapping and navigation systems. So I am looking for 2-3 people with high res tablet devices 7-10" running OziExplorer for Android purchased copies.

So just put your hand up (via a reply) in this thread and I will send you some cool things to play with. These can be switched on/off in Ozi without affecting your installation.

Hi David,

I'm interested. I use Ozi for Android (paid for) on a Samsung Galaxy 7.7 tablet (GT-P6800) running Android 4.0.4.

I suppose I am not really a power user. I mostly use the moving map in conjunction with a pretty big collection of maps. I probably underuse the facilities Ozi offers.

But if you're game, so am I.

Cheers

Great - do you happen to know the screen resolution of your tablet?

Frank,
I have just looked it up and 1280x800 is perfect. I will send you the files via PM now.

David,

A very quick first look ...

I am housebound at the moment, but going away in 10 days or so, so will give it a proper run then. However I have been playing with it.

For my use, I think you may have nailed it :-) All the things I routinely use and swap between are more readily available than in the native layout. Some bells and whistles are not directly available, such as the aviation-oriented stuff, but a 4WDer doesn't need those, eh?

At first sight my tablet behaves better when choosing progressively less or more detailed maps - when I get to the end, say the least detailed, it rolls around to the most detailed and starts again. Previously it would freeze and I would have to choose a Recently Loaded Map from the menu to get going again. I need to test that further but initially it looks good.

Umm, the DIM button doesn't seem to do anything ... Something is registering, I get the vibration feedback at each button press, but there is no evident behaviour on the screen. Is it for screen brightness?

An installation tip...
I have Ozi installed on my external 32Gb SD card which has an Oziexplorer folder. I placed your files there and they could not be found by Ozi. There is also an Oziexplorer folder in the root directory (also confusingly named SD by Android convention??????) Placing your files there worked fine.

More to come, no doubt.

Cheers

Frank,
Excellent and glad you like it. I have sent you some new files to fix the dim issue. BTW: you can click on the Map button between the more/less to get all maps at cursor. This is all in the manual but I want to know if the interface needs to be changed before finalisation of the manual as it has all the screen grabs.

I would be happy to participate in this trial. Many times over the last few months I have gone to buy the software for our 10in tablet but been distracted. I have been using ozi-explorer on a laptop and a car PC for 15 year. Please contact me at home, thanks Wayne

Wayne,

Do you have a purchased copy on Android now? I would be happy to have you on the program but would prefer if you have it already setup and ready to go or used the Android version in the past.

Wayne,

Thanks for the offer I am sort of right now but you will be able to get your hands on this Ozi Add-on very soon. I have had much positive feedback from the testers thus far and will now finalise the user manual.

Hi David,
I have Oziandroid currenty registered on a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1. Other than for planning an upcoming long trip during April to about July from Darwin through WA to SA and return via outback NSW and Qld though I'm not using it on the road at the moment. I've also got it registered on my Galaxy Note phone (first version) that's been in use for a few interstate trips since getting it and have it running continuously then.
If you would prefer someone who is using it regularly in active use then give me a miss.

Phil

Thanks Phil for the offer. Really wanting some people to use it soon or be using it regularly. You may be interested in the product once it is finished however.

Hi David,
Although using a Galaxy Note 10, OziExplorer and EOTopo I would not currently be a good candidate for the trial. But I look forward to seeing the final products.
Cheers

Hello David

I've got a Samsung Note 10.1 2014 version and have been using Ozi android for about a month now. Have previously used the PC Ozi version for many years.

We're full time on the road but don't move every day. We usually stay in one spot four to ten days at a time.

If that suits your needs then we're happy to help.

regards
John

Few hrs per day - excellent. Do you happen to know the screen resolution of your device at the moment I have only finished the 1024x800 display setup?

Hi David

Your new development sounds exciting. I have been using Ozi for over 15 years, and seen its development from the desktop thru CE on our PDA and now Android on our 10 inch tablet.

As a trip leader & navigator with the Toyota Landcruiser Club, I am constantly loading maps, tracks & waypoints on my laptop & android unit.

I also use EoTrackMe on all of our trips - your new development sounds very exciting - I would love to be involved.

Ken,

That is a very high res screen - I wonder if the auto resize would look any good on it. I will send you the files to have a look at. Very interested to hear how it looks on this level native resolution. The files I have developed thus far are targeted at 1280x800 but give it a go and report your findings would be wonderful.

PM on it way.

I'd be happy to give it a go also if you need additional players. I played round with the trek download zip files and rt2 files for you earlier in the month.
