My friends and I want to go camping in Victoria, but we don't have a car. Is there any campsites we can get to easily using just public transport? And preferably not one in a caravan/holiday park as my friends don't want to camp in "tent city"
Thanks!

Hi Emma F2. For years now we've never gone without our Camps Australia wide travel bible. It has everything you need t know about free or not free camping areas. Find it at www.campsaustraliawide.com You choose the location and it all locations have symbols as to their status. eg if there is cost, phone coverage, toilets, animals allowed, showers, bbq's, picnic tables, views etc. We got ours form the RACV. However, I noted that most of the freebies are out of towns away from rail stations.

Here is a site you could try. For what you are trying to do you will probably need to taxi from public transport to final destination.

I cannot think of anywhere you can get to on public transport alone where you wouldn't be in a caravan park.

If you wanted to take the vline train to Moe, I could run up to 4 of you to Seninis Campground? You can have a fire, nice flat grassy and partly shaded area, and you can have a dip in the river if its hot. I'll even come and get you a few days later and deliver you back to the train station. Would have to be on a weekend and mutually convenient, but it would be no trouble.
