Answers.

1. Subjective. Some people prefer Nissans and some people prefer Toyota. 100 Series Landcruiser has gone for IFS which isn't the best offroad and Nissan are having some problems with the early version of the 3.0litre turbo.
2. BFG All-Terrain (try and get the ones made in USA)
3. Bushranger Max Air
4. Subjective. Waeco are probably cheaper than Engel but Waeco, Engel and Evakool (another good fridge) all use the Danfoss compressor. Some people say that Evakool is better due to it's insulation qualities.
5. A dual battery system means that you can run the fridge in your vehicle without fear of not having enough battery power to start it when you want to.

OK then.

1. Depends on why you are asking , and what you want to do with it.
2. Big Fan of the BFG AT's . Run them on both my trucks. Cooper ST-C 's are supposed to be a BIG improvement over the ST's they replaced.
3. Bushranger Max Air are pretty good value.
4. Neither. get yourself an EvaKool.
5. Can't help you with that one. Cant fit one in my Truck.

Cant Para. I use all 6 seats (2A & 4K) .

It isn't really a drama cause the only time I really need dual batts , is when we take the camper, which has a battery on it (and ITS about to become dual batteries). the fridge lives in the trailer.

emu, i'm led to believe that the learned gentleman is going to the LD (Little Desert) as we experianced forumateers refer to it. I have not previously had the pleasure of meeting this gem of a man and I do so look forward to the honour of making his aquaintance. He has a couple of friends on this forum that I would encourage you to treat with great respect. One goes by the name of Toonfish, a chef of some note and a lovely lady known throughout the forum as Mrs Al. I have the pleasure of dining with her and her partner on Saturday next. I do so look forward to that encounter as well.

A little criticism if I may. I realise that you are an uneducated simple minded flightless bird, but your spelling and announciation are appalling.
I do think you could do well to undertake some gramatical and elocution lessons.

Respectfully yours

1 whats better toyota or nissan.
2 cooper tyres or bfg.
3 whats the best air compressor
4 whats better weaco or engel
5 whats a good duel battery system.

Correct Answers:

1. 1999 Holden Jackaroo TD with 60000 on the clock for $23000 (if you can't afford the $40000 for a same model same K's Toyota or slightly less for the Nissan
2. Dunno - but don't get Goodyear Wranglers
3. Blue Tongue are the best because they have a continuos rating - I pump up my 245/70R16s and two of my mates 265/75/R16s while he pumps his up with his cheapie - and I do not have to stop in between.
4. Engel - just look at the two and there is no comarrison for rugged build and looks and unsurpassed performance record. Casing won't melt & distort in extreme sun (I have seen this happen)
5. Pirahna ($600 fitted with 2xbattery monitor) is a good system - Rotronics independent system is best but for $1500 fitted its your decision. DON'T GO A SMART SOLENOID SUCH AS REDARC BECAUSE IF YOU DO AND IT WORKS GOOD I WILL BE SPEWING FOR WASTING THE EXTRA MONEY!

Hope this has helped!!!!????

Just to keep it on track, and to see if anyone out there knows anything about them, how does a redarc work and is it better than a Pirahna or Rotronics?!

what model Pirahna is it ?

as to a redarc being better than a Pirahna... don't joke!

they are two totally different systems, redarc you have to buy the unit then all the wireing and 2 fuses and clips seperately, with the Pirahna everything is included in the kit - no extras to buy.

the Redarc is only suitable for battery systems where the two batteries are identical
eg; same age, size, style and type, amp/hr or cca that is stated on the Redarc specification sheet.

however the Pirahna is suitable for any size and any type of batteries including cranking and Deep Cycle combinations, as it is a different system altogether and that is also stated on the Pirahna specification sheet.

OZYGUY - I think you just agreed with me if you go back and read my reply. I have the Pirahna, latest greatest model whatever it is, and I said not to go the redarc.

However, there is much debate (just read previous forums) over whether the Pirhana system (not being an independent charging system) will charge two different batteries any better than a smart solenoid.

I liked the 3 year warranty, expert installation and the dual battery monitoring system.

See I am agreeable!!!

Because what you say about Isolators is what the relevant manufacturers print on their specification sheets, but not on their advertising blurb.

Emu,
Good to see you are prepared to ask questions....

As to the first three questions they are more personal choice...

1... go for DIESEL whatever the brand.
2... STEEL Belted sidewalls not pollyester
3... Air Compressor- Ummm mine is only about $90 from K Mart. It works, it is not noisey, it is smallish, it does the job.

4....
My own choice... A "REEFER" Fridge/Freezer, their web site is--> www.refrigerationresearch.com.au
they are Stainless Steel not plastic or fibreglass built up to a quality not down to a price.

5....
My own choice... Two "Delkor" 80a/h Deep Cycle batteries wired in parallel seperated by a "Pirahna" Electronic Battery Isolator, as Pirahna is suitable to isolate BOTH cranking AND Deep Cycle batteries in the same system, whereby some other brands are not suitable for different styles of batteries, the batteries MUST be the same.

6... Consider a quality 80wt SOLAR Panel, if you are likely to be camped for long (week +) in the one spot to recharge your batteries.
