The only spot I'm familiar with in the immediate area is J.B.Plain - there is a hut there, but it is a walk in site only - vehicles are restricted to the roadside. The hut is in a hundred metres or so.

If its open, Dinner Plain Track just east of JB Plain has a few good camping spots along it before you get to Victoria River Track.

As has been suggested The Diinner Plain track is generally nice, especially the view at precipice plain.

Also King Spur Track further south looking across the Dargo to Mt table top, and if you go tot he end of that track Mayford is beautiful in the valley.

A word of warning. That is the area that suffered badly in the fires last year. The entire area surrounded by The great Alpine Rd, Dinner plain track down to the old Mayford track, , King spur track and the Dargo high plains Rd was either burnt out or was back burned by the CFA. It will be pretty black aournd there.
