Hi all
I understand that a ferry is again operating across the Spencer Gulf, after being out of action last time we tried. Anyone have an idea of price for a vehicle and camper trailer (ie, is it worth the fuel saving to avoid driving around via Port Augusta)?
Cheers

G'day, using the fare structure on the web site, it would cost me $330.00 to take the ferry from Wallaroo to Cowell, Nissan Patrol, camper trailer and two passengers. The mileage saved would be 330kms, Port Wakefield to Cowell, less mileage Port Wakefield to Wallaroo. Pretty sure it isn't going to cost a $1 per kilometre to get to Cowell via the road and maybe save two hours or so of travel time.

Hi Wildmax

I have been over just to see what it was like. Good experience but would not do it again for the cost.

If we compare apples with apples, that is Wallaroo to Cowell, you would save around an hours driving time by taking the ferry compared to driving around by road. On the other hand, you are miles ahead in dollar terms is you drive.

Cheers

Like Stephen said it is a good trip.
If you can afford it then do it even if only the once. Cheers Brian.

Thanks everyone - looks like it's a no contest in dollar terms, even if an interesting cruise.
