Hi,
I have just purchased a 2002 Toyota Landcruiser FZJ105R 4.5 litre 6cyl.

Can anybody help me with what sort of petrol consumption I can expect. both unloaded & towing a 2000kg pop top off road van.

Regards
Tac

Last year we travelled 17000km with a 4.5 lt Crusier and its avg. was 6.5km/lt, loaded(no trailer) with an avg speed of 90kph.

Tac,
I purchased a 1999 FZJ105R last year.
Unloaded, average about 16L/100km around the city, 14L/100 on longer highway runs.
Towing the van I would expect you to see 18-20L/100, but it would very much depend upon your cruising speed and your enthusiasm with the right foot.

The 100 series petrols are not overly sensitive to loads in highway mode. There seems to be a measurable difference between cruising at 90k vs 100k. Don't have enough figures yet to prove it definitively.

cheers,
Martin.

Gidday Tac, I too have a FZJ105R 4.5 and usually average 17.5l/100km everyday
use, highway towing 1050kg camper around the same but if getting fairly serious
4wd (low range) 25to 30l/100km, hope this helps.

Hi,
I have a 8mth 2001 4.5 lit 6cyl and over 40,000klm have monitered the fuel consumpyion. The lowest I have been able to get is 17lit/100klm and the worst is 25lit/100klm towing a cam-0-matic Ranger GL off road at 105-115kph.Thats with the vehicle fully loaded. Best I can advise is fit a K&N air filter and a Hiclone , this gave me 2-3 lit/100klm and slight increase in power.
If youreplace you spare and fit a 175lit tank it seems to last longer!?

Enjoy the car and don't worry.
