Dear Explore Oz friends of my beautiful Dad.

On the morning of February 19, Royce passed away peacefully after a battle with cancer. He was wrapped in the arms of those he loved.

He fought hard, with a positive, accepting and enthusiastic attitude. He awoke with a smile on his face every day, excited at the challenges and possibilities that lay ahead.

He is very deeply missed by myself, my Mum (his wife and love of 42 years), my brother Jim and the rest of our families. We are thankful he did not have to suffer.

Dad was very touched by the outpouring of comradeship and support he received when he posted on here regarding his condition a few weeks ago. I thank you for allowing him an opportunity to see what a wonderful impact he can have on people's lives, even those he hasn't met. We are so proud of him, and I'm glad that you were all able to have my Dad in your life at some point.

Enjoy your lives, and when you're time comes, may you also be able to look back with wonderful joy of a life well lived.

Kind regards,
Caitie Moncur.

I am sorry to say we didn't meet your dad but have enjoyed his company on EO through the forum. He seemed a very decent and interesting man with a quest for travel and adventure.

Thank you for this thoughtful follow up Caitie. I didn't know Royce and missed his farewell thread - but what a treat it was to read just now. He'd be proud that you're a chip off the old block. Commiserations to the family and all Royce's friends.
