Hi all,

I looking for a charger for my 260Ah 12v AGM battery bank and can't decide which Ctek charger would be the best.

The MXS15 specifies it is designed to charge battery banks 30-300Ah and maintenance charge up to 500Ah.

The MXS10 can charge banks 20-200Ah and maintenance charge up to 300Ah. It also appears to have a charging program specifically for AGM batteries whereas the MXS15 doesn't.

Does the advantage of having a specific AGM charging program out weigh the higher charging rate of the MXS15? Will the MSX10 be able to charge the 260Ah bank sufficiently?

Any input would be appreciated.
Cheers

For a 260 Ah battery I would be looking for something with a 25 A output or larger.

My thoughts exactly.

With a 260AH pack 1/2 discharged the recharge time even with the 15amp is around 9 hours if all is well. At least 13hrs with a 10amp device.

Thanks guys. I thought 10 amp sounded too small. Ctek also have a 25amp model but similar to the 15 amp, no AGM charge program.

Any recommendations on other brands?

If you consult the manuals you'll find the 15A versions charges at 14.4V and the 10 version charges at 14.4V (AGM) their the same!

As the others wrote, bigger is better.

Hi Tate

I would go for a 25A charger, general rule is 10% of capacity with 20% of capacity being the ideal.

Our ABC1220D will do max of 400ah, The ideal charger would be our Pro-Series 40A charger, what is your charging requirement. IE: Time, how and when will you need to use the charger.

Hi,

I went the 25amp Ctec for a 120Ah deep cycle AGM after going through everything on the inter web. Very happy with charger. Got it from autoelecau on Ebay, cheapest I could find, no probs with delivery.

Cheers,

Jeremy.
