Planning 4 weeks fishing in the top end leaving 7/4/14, 2 4x4 vehicles towing boats. We had a pre trip meeting last night and I was blown away with the amount of things we are taking. I think we need another vehicle just to carry equipment. Planning on 3 days on the Daly River, 3 days a Shady Camp and 10 days at Borroloola.
We have a concern about the amount of water in the rivers at that time of year, as the wet has not finished yet.
Has anyone been to these places recently?
Does anyone have alternative Barra fishing places that should be ok at this time of year.
Any other comments (not you are silly buggers).
Thanks
Wato

Hi wato,
Borroloola you mean the McArthur river or King Ask Bay. As the road to King Ask Bay has been closed for a few weeks now with water over the road. Best to ring as it is a muddy track in.
As for the wet it is slowing down, only getting small showers now and nice sunny days.
Have you thought of going to Lorella Springs as the Barra are in the billabongs and you can get out to the Gulf from there.
Cheers Andy

Might want to look at the road report for King Ash Bay : http://www.ntlis.nt.gov.au/roadreport/obstructions-byregion.jsp#KATHERINE

If you do decide to go to Lorella Springs then why not pop into the Towns River and the Roper at various places. All subject to access.

Kind regards
