Just a general comment.
Oriental Communications aren't most high tech around. They will work just to talk to someone but if relying on it for battery life with sophisticated battery saving circuitry probably not as good as well respected brands.
If using for scanning of frequencies, the vehicle ones and probably the Handheld too, have slooooow scanning speed. about 10 times slower than a GME and if for scanning 80 channels, you will probably nearly always miss short voice transmissions unless it is at that point in the scan freq when the transmission occurs.

If group scanning ie 2, they take just as long to scan 2 as they do to scan 80.

A GME If just scanning 2 channels only takes the amount of time for two channels and not the full 80 all the time.

I want an 80 channel UHF handheld, my two are only 40 ch. I will be buying a GME 5W unit. It can be used with a BNC connector, like my old ones and run into a cable and roof aerial.

Stuart,

GME, Icom or Uniden would be better value, and perform better for longer.

Bob.

Can't remember most of it.
