Having searched the net extensively lately I just can't figure out how to get my Ozi maps onto my Samsung Galaxy S4 phone. I'm not sure what I'm missing but I think I'm falling between the too much [incomprehensible] detail and not enough!
I've bought the OziExplorer for Android app and downloaded it to my phone. I've downloaded the Img2ozf application from the OziExplorer website. I've managed to convert some of my maps to ozf format using Img2ozf (but not the ecw files contained within my NatMap Raster 2-CD set). But I can't get the phone to show up on Img2ozf to be able to get the maps onto the phone.
What next? Help! Please?

For each ozf map file you need a .map file as
well. Have you loaded these on to the phone too?

On my Galaxy Note I put the map files, both the ozf4 and .map onto the micro sd card. I removed the card, put in my computer and copied the files.
I then went to the configuration menu in Ozi and entered where to find the files. It works a treat.
I did the same with my Telstra ZTE phone.

Thank you, it hadn't occurred to me that I could put my micro sd card into my computer. I'll see if I can do that.
I have to say, the instructions in your follow-up are no help at all. I've read them several times and still can't make head nor tail of them for my particular problem.

Hi Guys, very interesting, as I have just bought a Samsung galaxy tab 3 10.1 with a view of putting my ozi explore maps onto it. I am running windows 7 on my laptop. Is it possible to download from windows 7 onto samsung I also have the 32gb microcard which was brought for that purpose of using ozi explorer. Thanks and regards, The Nugget.

I don't know anyone in Kal with Ozi. All my mates either rely on me to get them there or their own GPS's!
Anyone in Kal who knows about Ozi and likes beer/red wine/scotch/rum/tea/coffee/etc let me know.

You need to Get Outmore and come back to Kal! I reckon the Lapiardary
Shop closed about 7 or 8 years ago. But in any event I had lots of the 100k maps which I've now got loaded on. I also had the Ghosts Map set, which is likewise very good.
But thanks for your help anyway.

Hello
Firstly - you don't need to convert ECW maps to OZF for work on the android version of OziExplorer. ECW should work OK. Having said that OZF if probably better so if its not that much trouble convert away.
Your Android phone (same for tablets) should, when connected to PC via USB show up as
a Portable Device along with your other hard drives ect ....
Plate 1
Click on it and it should show internal and external (SD Card) memory locations...
Plate 2
Now - you can save your maps to the tablets/phones internal memory but typically people use external memory cards...so in this example that's where we are headed. I have created a folder on my external SD called, believe it or not, Maps and place all my maps (for all programs) here...(to create a new folder just right click with mouse in desired location and select "New Folder" - change name to Maps.
Plate 3
Plate 3b
So..once you have copied your maps (don't forget you need the image file (*.ecw or *.ozf4) and the calibration file (*.map)) across you need to let OziExplorer know where to find then.
This is done by starting up OziExplorer, Tap the settings button (on the phone/tablet left of central bottom button), Select "Main Menu", then select "Configuration" then "General Settings" ...here you will see "Map File Path" - select this and navigate through the different folders to find the external SD card (typically called storage/extSdCard - there maybe other folders called "SD card" but make sure you get the "External" one) to the Maps folder you created before. Make sure you actually navigate all the way into the Maps folder when saving this configuration.
Plate 4
When done index maps (select "Index Maps on OziExplorer Start" maybe a good function to turn on - its in the general settings also).
I also save all my data to the SD card...same procedure as maps, just create a folder and let Ozi know where it is (i.e. select Data File Path).
As others have suggested - if you can't get you PC to recognize your phone - just take the sd card out, insert into PC and do it that way.
Hope this helps
Cheers
Greg

Thanks very much Greg. Next time you're in Kal I owe you big time.
That all worked very
well, for my 100k maps etc that I've painstakingly built up over the years, but rather than putting my NatMap rasters set on, I decided to take the advice of others and lash out $100 to update to the newer
EOTopo 200k set, which I can read using Memory Maps on both my laptop and on my phone, but haven't figured out (a) how to get it onto my storage card instead of the phone memory and (b) how to point Ozi at them.
Grateful any assistance.

I think I've pretty much somehow accomplished what I wanted to now, but it's like lots of things around technology these days - either you know how to do it, in which case it's easy; or you don't know how to do it in which case the instructions are incomprehensible!
But thanks for your offer.
