G'day lads, we're planning to stay at Birdsville on the night of the 9th July, and leave to go west through the Simpson Desert on the morning of the 10th. I just wondered if anybody knew if the Big Red Bash would be in the road of our travel plans!? Will we need to find an alternate route??

The track crosses the dune at Little Red, turns along the back of the dune nd urns wet as you pass Big Red. There will be no clash unless you want to tackle Big Red.

Gidday Josh,
I'm helping set up the concert. You can drive over Big Red in both directions each morning (8th, 9th, 10th July) till 12 noon so you'll have no dramas leaving town, driving west over Big Red and into the desert. Full details below (the reason for the restricted access up on top is due to a stage being set up etc - but "up and over" is fine).
Have a great trip out into the desert mate.
If anybody has any other questions feel free to email me on lucas@escalade.com.au as I don't always visit this forum.

BIG RED CLOSURE TIMES – 8th, 9th 10th July 2014

Before 12 noon each day - Limited access - 4WDs can drive straight across using the direct western and eastern tracks and the chicken run to the south. Vehicles cannot drive uphill to the north and onto the top section of Big Red and cannot use the alternative tracks (to the left) on the western side.

After 12 noon each day - Big Red closed - No vehicle access to the top of Big Red or on any vehicle access tracks.
