Hi all,
has anyone had any issues fitting a combo rear brake and hand brake kit to a 2007 V8 VDJ79 workmate ute? Did you have to shorten the tail shaft to accommodate the rotor of the back od the transfer case?
thanks

Gday
After just reading the fitting instructions on google, there is no mention about shortening the tail shaft, so one would assume that it is not necessary.

Mark,
The slip joint in the tail shaft would take care of any shorting due to the insulation of the hand brake rotor.
This system sounds like a good idea, do you know if they supply just the hand brake kit?

Tail shaft disc brake can be ordered separately according the information I received from H/S.
Brakes on a Troopy are so bad probably need the whole kit.- Wife's opinion after a scary incident.

Mark, have a chat to them. Have you checked the load proportioning valve and seen what can be done there first off? They can be a bit problematic affecting brake capacity. The first option Hoppers usually recommend is using larger master/slave cylinders and lines to ensure your getting adequate hydraulic pressures through to the calipers. It's less expensive.
If this doesn't satisfy then go ahead and do the full disc replacement kit and get the handbrake kit as
well. As you've already fitted the cylinders and lines to fit, it won't be any more expensive.
I'll be going the whole hog once finances are authorised by the minister for war and finance.
Cheers Mick

Thanks guys for your responses.
Once I removed the grease nipple from the shaft I was able to compress it and bolt it to the diff.
I bought the hand brake & rear brake kit as I was going to have to replace both rotors/drums - about $500 each - as the holes were elongated (and yes - I do keep the wheel nuts up tight!). So I thought that I'd look for something better rather than replace the them periodically.

So Mark what did it end up costing for both kits?
