We will shortly be visiting Oma's
waterholes and was wondering if the are holding water at the moment- has anyone been there lately?
Thanks, RB

G`day mate,
The best place for the info you require would be the shire office in
Isisford.
There will be water in it, but how much they should tell you.
The Oma
Waterhole is about 18 klm S/W of
Isisford is one of several permanent
waterholes along the Barcoo River which have not been dry for
well over 100 years.
At the Oma W/H there are
Toilets and hot Showers available and in 2011 it was $2.00 per day (payable at the Council Office in town) to
camp there.
Shhhh , don`t tell anyone, it`s a great spot for fishing. LOL
Scrubby.

Richard,
I'd suggest the holes should be full, as Barcoo River ran some weeks back.

Had a look at the Qld Gov water level site and yes I am sure we will find water.....on to Welford then Diamantina before west and more west.
Was reading your blog Bob...great read and thanks for your reply.

Appreciate the comment about the blog Richard. A work in progress and think I'll have to retire again to complete it!
If you're going to
Diamantina Lakes N/P, then the best
campsite is up at the old Mayne Pub. It's a bit out of the way if you are heading west, and lacks any amenities, but has much more "character" than either
Hunters Gorge or Gum Holes. Of course there's other good campsites too, but think Parks are still restricting just where you can
camp.
The Diamantina had a bit of a flood in it too, so the holes through
the gorge should be right up there. Just make sure you have spare fuel when you go there as it's easy to burn up, doing the Warracoota drive.
Bob.
