Hi lads, was at Roothy's farewell at LCMP on the weekend and had a blast. I'm really suprised at the 80's capabilities. It has a 2" lift and some standard sized all terrains that have done almost 90,000 clicks. Its a GXL so has factory centre diff lock.
I was crawling up the same tracks as the bush bashers were munching up before me.
While they were giving it to her I was in low 1st or 2nd and just casually driving up, picking my line.
Can't stand the way they ruin the tracks with their low patience and massive muddies.
With lockers, 33's, and a turbo the 80 will be an extremely capable (and legal) 4wd.
Couldn't believe I was thinking about selling it!
Cheers
Josh.

Josh,
That is what the LCMP caters for.
Yes the 80 is a very capable car even more with lockers good
suspension and some big tyres.
Each to their own.

That's good. I always thought he was a pretty lame wanna-be. I stopped subscribing to the magazine because I thought he was too stupid for words. Happy to say I've found other sites where the banter is more friendly, adult and informative that what is outfit had to offer.

Roothy is a decent bloke, who is putting his whole effort into unlocking the parts of Australia the government and greenies have locked up. He's doing more than the other tv presenters and I think that's gold.
Just a pitty about the bush bashers in 4wd's that leave a mess.. Gives us all a bad name.

And those who rip up tracks etc for the sake of a magazine story. Hold your horses....

Refer back to your original post Josh. Roothy is one of the worst for getting us locked out in the first place. Seen more irresponsible driving on his DVD's than any of our club trips. Mind you its his job.
Watch the videos carefully you will be surprised who you see throwing rubbish out his window!
As for quitting EMG maybe his conscious got the better of him?

That would have ben fun Josh - its a pretty courageous move he is making so lets hope it pays off.
80 series are one of the all time greats -another one has recently come into our group its a petrol fortunately so it already has the power as going slow can only get you so far.
I wouldn't worry if it was LCMP they were attacking the tracks on , its afterall a private property business for purpose - actually I think its good to have and outlet no matter what sport you like and probably saves more real tracks.
If you are thinking of a turbo aftermarket keep it under control as one in our group stripped a gear with to much power (there are variations of gearboxes rated for more power).
