Hi All,

I am a lady traveller new to the forums. I have done the big lap in a Toyota Hiace in 08/09 which has ruined me for life - I can think of nothing else!!! So naturally I now have to do it again 4x4 style!

I have bought a 2014 Mercedes Sprinter 4x4 MWB (arriving later this month) and having camper van conversion done May/June. I have only just found a winch compatible bull bar but still having difficulty finding anywhere that has a snorkel to fit my model. Can anyone out there offer advice?

I am also curious if anyone has tackled Cape York, Fraser or Kimberley in a 4x4 Sprinter Van. I'm not really sure of its capabilities yet but will be doing a 4x4 course before I leave.

Thanks
Toni

Toni.
Plenty of very happy 4x4 Sprinter owners out there, including me. They are very capable if you go to the trouble of reading the hand book and understanding the traction control. If you are in Melbourne I could give you some driving tips.
I would not bother with a snorkel The standard set up gets very little dust in the filter. You can not drive in deep water in a Sprinter because they float before the air intake goes under. Eric

Thanks All,

Yes, I have already e-mailed Trakka but no reply as yet.

Thanks for your kind offer Eric but I am Brisbane. Would definitely have taken you up on that.

Cheers

While your having your camper conversion done , have them put in a 2" lift with springs to compensate the extra weight of B/bar etc… Snorkel ?? you don't really need one unless your planning on going deeper than the 'handbook' wading depth at which point you'll be floating ,,,,

Safari (sold through ARB) do one, part No. SS96HF.Sprinter Snorkel

From the look of the head of the one fitted to the van in the video, it looks like an Airtec sold through TJM.

Formula Offroad (click here) have a bullbar that will take a winch. ECB also have one, but it looks like it will be a lot of stuffing around to make a winch fit.

Good luck.

Mader International in Tasmania might be able to give you some info too. They built a bunch of Sprinters into 4x4 ambulances for the Defence Force.

Finding where they got their off the shelf stuff is easier than trying to reinvent the wheel.
