Savannah Way

This transcontinental road trip, stretches from the historic pearling town of Broome on the northwest coast of WA; travelling past Katherine in the heart of the NT,

Does anybody know if the road savanah way from Normanton via Boorroloola and then on to top Springs on Carpentaria Highway to the Stuart highway is bitumen

Boorroloola to Stuart Hwy is Bitumen
Normanton to Boorroloola is mainly gravel.

Don't know your top springs?????

Top Springs is on the Buchanan Hwy west of katherine etc but no where near the gulf?

That should read "mainly very rough gravel" and with a few very rougher rocky sections thrown in as well....and the odd creek crossing , that is the way it was last year between Hells Gate and Boorroloola but we took our time and actually enjoyed it

Normanton to Boorroloola is gravel, can be rough and watch (be careful) travelling to close to the end of the wet.
Carpentaria Highway (Boorroloola to Stuart Highway bitumen) Stuart Highway thru to Top Springs Buchanan Highway (also known as the Muranji Track) mostly unsealed usually well looked after. (Caveat) or was when i lived up that way.

Just a thought; Wollogorang was closed at one stage, but I think it opened again - others will confirm.Doomadgee Roadhouse on the Queensland section if Wollogorang is closed.
