Hi

Two questions:

1). Looking for a second set of tyres, mostly for greasy mud work. Considering the Goodyear MTR or the Cooper STT. What sorts of prices (esp Brisbane) have people paid recently for either tyres ? Sizes being considered are 235/85R16 or 265/75R16.

2). What's the max mileage people have gotten from either (assume majority of time offroad) ?

Thanks

Rod

I have a set of 5 Cooper STTs for sale. 235/85R16. Four of them have about 30%wear. One is brand new. I paid $750 for them and haven't used them. They are too big for my vehicle. Make an offer if you are interested. I can send photos of the tread if you like.Bob

What are you going to use the mud tyres for? If you are going to a 4wd park where a bog hole has been made for fun??? or competition then a set of super swampers are the way to go. Not sure if they are legal in all states for highway use, so you might have to put them on when you get there. If you are going out after rain or looking for wet and muddy tracks, think about it.

How many miles, depends on so many factors.
As for cost, do the ring around from the yellow pages, specials come up about every other week.

If your lookin for a weekend tire only, go something more serious like Simex JTs or Extreme Trekkers, then just change them the day ya going out... took me 30 mins (with the help of 4yr old son ;) ) to do the 5 JT's the other night. Check the Trading post for some good used tires, people in the know, sell them with 85-90% on em....
You can get some good tires, I got my Jungle Trekker 2s for $1100 for 5 34x11.5x15s on rims. :)

MTR's are good on road, noisey when they wear, differing storys on klms, I have 30,000 on mine, still 85% or better. Brilliant offroad, clean well, have only had one bad trip on em, up the snow, but the week before had 0 problems with the same tracks. Was wetter snow.

STT's also a good tire, have a few mates running 35's on GQ Patrols, They love em. They are more $ than the MTR, not as long wearing, but just as Strong Sidewalls.

Either will do the job.. Tires have just gone up in the last 4 weeks, so ya missed out bymuch...
