My husband and myself are heading off to
Cape York from Warrackanbeal Victoria for August/September. Coming
home am wondering what the track from Artmis to Dunbar is like....hoping to track across to
Karumba. We are traveling in a Nissan Patrol towing a Offroad outback Sturt camper. Will be travelling
well prepared and have done 2 big trips in recent years through NSW and inner Out back QLD. Any suggestions welcomed :)

Yep, I agree that should be OK by August. We did the same trip on the way back from the Cape in August '12, and there were no problems (apart from getting a bit lost at one stage when we ended up on an Aboriginal station and had to backtrack to go round).
It is a track not a road, but nothing too difficult, and when we went through in August there was only about 300mm of water at the
Mitchell Crossing.
From Dunbar the road into
Normanton is good standard gravel and some bitumen, and I believe it is the same if you go back east via
Chillagoe
Enjoy the Cape!!

From what I understand it was graded right through last year so now it is easily followed.
We went through in 2008 and it was an adventure at that time.
