Hi John. I want to replace my wind down caravan legs with drop down ones. I would love to know if the bolt holes are the same on both types. I hope someone has done it. Thanks for your interest.

I replaced the wind-down legs on our Jayco Penguin Outback with the drop-down legs. I got fed up with the leg-adjusting screws breaking after a couple of dozen uses. The wind-down legs were fastened to the van chassis with Techscrews so the wind-down legs were relatively easy to replace, but I had to carry a spare leg assembly all the time.
However the Atco drop-down legs are bolted to plates hanging from the chassis, so I had to get these plates welded on in order to change to drop-down legs. I'm very happy with the result. The drop-down legs are so much better, and can be raised and lowered with a portable electric drill so we've saved ourselves time when arriving and departing.

No - they're very different!

The drop down ones have lugs sort of like spring hangers.

Caravan Corner Steady Category - Here is a page from one of the online cattledogs. Click on the pictures for a better look at how they mount. There are a couple of different manufacturers products for you to review. Amongst the other products you may find your existing legs.
