Hi all
I have a 2008 XLT Dual cab and have just fitted a canopy. I want to lock the tail gate handle. There are parts available for the new Ranger but not for the older models. Has anyone managed to find a way to lock the tailgate? Pointless having a canopy that locks and not the tailgate. Cheers Jack

Well seems I have purchased a lemon. Ford do not make any form of locking mechinism and the canopy people have not made the glass long enough to go over the tail gate. I screwed so I now have to sell this piece of crap and get something else.

Think outside the square.
Fit a couple of largish slide bolts (one either side, inside the tray) and padlock them locked when necessary. Much cheaper than trading up.

If you were going to fit a canopy sometime in the future, perhaps you should have checked that the tailgate was lockable before you bought.

Disco.

Check the Mazda BT50 ? for a similar tailgate lock.
I remember someone on one of the Ford Forums doing just what you want.

Haven't you watched any of Rowan Atkinson's Mr Bean episodes? He just put a hasp and staple lock on the Mini.....(;-))

Thanks everyone. I have contacted the canopy manufacturer and they have have told me that the canopy has been incorrectly installed. They will rectify it for free. Good news.

Jack,

Sounds like you have your problem sorted?

Just on Wolf4x4 website, and they have a tailgate lock for rangers, called a "Trucklok". $265.

No affiliation etc

Bob.

Seen it all, Done it all.
Can't remember most of it.
