G'day,
Have recently purchased a TigerzII awning. Have no use for a roof rack/bars and don't want the added weight or expense. Any ideas on how to mount an awning without a rack? The factory mounting points on the vehicle look pretty sturdy and am surprised no one sells some sort of bracket to mount an awning.
Cheers.

Just buy a couple of RHINO Bar mounts and make an adaptor to use them.

I'm sure you could design and make something for a 200 series. It has the bar/ rack attachment on the sides of the roof. I don't have a 200 so I can't offer any more help but I think it's a great idea and would be quite feasible! Michael

Gday Caltexvb
I made up 3 mounts out of 3mill steel plate and bent them to shape never fitted mounts I got a roorack instead. Made the mounts about 80mill wide hope this helps.

I can't believe you bought an awning without researching a mounting system first. Anyway the 200 does have good mounting points. If you can do it yourself great either way I'd use stainless steel for strength and none rust issues 'down the track'

Thanks Trouper. Yes, I was fully aware thats how everybody else does it and was prepared to buy a rack if I had to. Only thought about the no roof rack option after seeing how sturdy the mounts on the my car are.

Maybe buy some roof rails (check EBay). My Altitude came with factory roof rails and I've used them to mount a custom platform rack as well as an awning.
