I fitted extractors to a 2.4 litre naturally aspirated hilux diesel years ago, made enough difference for me to fit them to every diesel I owned after that - except the turbos obviously. Big difference to consumption, from 10 LP100 to better than 8 on both 2.8 diesels, but only a slight difference to power.

To get the full benefit of the extractors you should do the rest of the exhaust system in the same size pipe as the extractors. I have never done a 4.5 ltr troll but have done plenty of other vehicles and have always been impressed with the gain in power. Usually it helps the economy a bit because you will now use less throttle to get the same results when you settle back into your driving routine after you have fun playing around with the extra power. Make sure you buy a quality brand not cheap stuff to get better results.

yes.....revs quicker and can hold the revs a bit longer. As said you need to go the whole way and do all the exhaust through to the back. make sure you get a decent straight through muffler to assist. Sounds good as well just don't expect any great increase in fuel economy - that requires the right foot to operate "sensibly". rgds
Slow down and relax......

Can't speak for the Patrol but my old HJ47 didn't have extractors, the new one does - big difference to the engine performance - new one revs better and blows less smoke.
