I have a 75 series Troopie in which the rear doors rattle/squeak after some time on the road. Have tightened locks, catches, guides, buffers etc which seems to cure it for a while but it comes back. Any clues?

Do you have your spare wheel mounted on the door? The weight of this seems to make the doors sag after a while and causes the noises. I recently upgraded my Troopie, the one I bought had the wheel on the door - and door squeaked and rattled a bit. I had my rear bar fitted to it - which has a wheel carrier - checked over the door - and now with the weight removed the door no longer makes any noises. Yet to be seen if they return as this was only changed over about three weeks back.

Cheers

G'day Errol, I get it now & again in my 75. I just give all the latches, locks a good clean, then spray them with a silicone spray and it's as quiet a as a mouse :-)

I have also stuck a extra strip of weather tape around the frame to reduce dust and that seems to have helped as well

I had the same problem on my old 75 i use to adjust the latches and that stopped it for awile, in the end i put new door rubbers on it there was nothing wrong with the old ones just over time they squash down a bit never heard another noise after that.

Thanks for the hints. I will try some or all and hopefully cure the annoying problem.

I agree with Troopie. We put Kaymar wheel caddies on our 78 series and got the weight off the door. we have had no dust or rattle problems at all.

cheers
