In the planning stage of our Western QLD trip. We like to stay in cabins in Van parks. It would be great to hear any recommendation's from fellow travellers who may have stayed there. Mainly interested to hear Re the general cleanliness & security of the Caravan Parks.

Many thanks.

We also stay in CP cabins. In 2007 the cabin at Argylla was clean and secure, and the laundry facilities acceptable. In 2012 the cabin at AAOK Moondarra was not at all clean and had neither table nor chairs, though these (very old and stained) were grudgingly provided eventually.

Enjoy your travels, Kathie

Agree with the positive comment on Argylla - we've stayed there three times and found it clean and secure.

Allan,

Never stayed at Argyllia but used to drive past it 4 times/week, and if the rest of the park is as neat and tidy as the approach, and entrance, then you won't have anything to worry about.

On the eastern edge of the Isa, and only a short walk to Overlander Hotel. Probably fairly quiet too, except for a bit of highway noise:-)

Been to the Isa once and stayed at the Moondarra caravan park at short notice - we found it 'ok enough' for 2 nights. They do have a 'restaurant' at the front that I presume was established to service the mealtime needs of the many local mine workers who stay at that park - the public are welcome too. We did go and have a look at the Argylla Tourist park on the Barkley Hwy and that seemed well above the standard of the Moondarra, in all respects. We'll probably pick the latter next time.

Allen,
probably best to stay clear of the Mt Isa car van park. Nothing wrong with the park, just a little old. Biggest problem is the Overlander pub is across the road and you can get some pretty noisy neighbours early in the morning.

Thanks everyone for your input. Looks like Argylla is the go. I will call them in the morning.

Cheers,
